Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 1, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, what Diversion Company uses them for, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They allow a site to remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how you navigate. Not all cookies are the same — some are essential, some are optional, and some you can turn off without breaking anything.

Cookies We Use

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies make the Diversion platform work. Without them, you cannot log in, access your repositories, or use any authenticated features. They are session-based and expire when you close your browser or after a fixed inactivity period.

  • dv_session — authenticates your active session. Expires after 7 days of inactivity.
  • dv_csrf — prevents cross-site request forgery. Session-scoped.

You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies while using the platform. They are not used for tracking or analytics.

Preference cookies

These remember choices you have made — your cookie consent decision, display preferences, and similar settings. They are stored in localStorage rather than as HTTP cookies.

  • dv_cookie_choice — records whether you accepted or opted out of analytics cookies. Stored in localStorage, no expiry.

Analytics cookies

We use first-party analytics to understand how visitors use diversionhq.org. This helps us figure out what content is useful and what is not. The data is aggregate — we cannot identify individual visitors from it.

  • _dv_anon — anonymous visitor identifier, used to count unique visits without storing personal data. 90-day expiry.
  • _dv_ref — records the referring page for your current session. Session-scoped.

Analytics cookies are optional. You can opt out at any time using the banner below or by clicking "Opt Out" on the consent notification on any page.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
  • We do not share cookie data with data brokers or ad networks.
  • We do not sell the data collected via cookies to anyone.
  • We do not use fingerprinting techniques to track you across sites.

Your Choices

You can manage cookies in several ways:

Consent banner

When you first visit diversionhq.org, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen. Clicking "Accept" enables all cookies described above. Clicking "Opt Out" disables analytics cookies. Your choice is stored locally and respected on future visits.

Browser settings

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in to the Diversion platform. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the site.

California residents (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell cookie data. California residents can still exercise the opt-out right using the "Opt Out" button in the consent banner — this disables all non-essential data collection.
